The MacAllister Collection
Stories Begin Here
(and So Do a Few Good Pranks)
Hi, I’m Charlie MacAllister—though my friends just call me “Chuckle.”
Here at Mansfield House, my mornings start the same way they always have—with a hot cup of coffee and a long look at the lifts. Old habits, I suppose. Before I can think about starting my day, I find myself standing by the window, watching the chairs glide up the mountain, just like they did for all those years I spent working the line. Some things change—like the fact that now I get to enjoy the view from the heart of Spruce Peak Village—but some things stay the same.
Welcome to the MacAllister Collection—or as I like to call it, home base for storytelling, ski days, and the occasional family takeover.
I’ve finally got the perfect spot to write my memoirs—a dedicated office where I can relive decades of chairlift shenanigans and legendary powder days. But when my niece and nephew visit, the office does what every great space should—it adapts. With a quick transformation, it becomes a cozy bunk room, perfect for flashlight storytelling, giggles, and the occasional pillow fight (I’ve been known to win a few).
This alpine nest sleeps four comfortably, but let’s be real—when all 36 MacAllisters roll into town for the Stowe Derby or our annual family reunion, we take over the entire collection. With four different floor plans to choose from, deciding who stays where is almost as competitive as our annual ski race. Let’s just say there have been a few heated rounds of rock-paper-scissors to settle it.
The MacAllister Collection was designed for easy living, and believe me, I know a thing or two about living easy. Fully appointed down to the last rug, fork, and lamp, everything is ready from day one. With custom cabinetry, beautifully crafted wardrobes, and a clever entryway mudroom, every piece of gear has its place (there’s even room for my growing sweater collection).
And the details? Chevron-patterned oak wood floors, uniquely designed window treatments, and murals by some of my favorite Vermont friends. There’s even an optional Vermont flannel dog bed—designed for one very spoiled (and slightly overweight) St. Bernard.
The dining alcove is perfect for swapping stories over a meal, and with two full bathrooms, a washer/dryer, generous storage, and a dedicated ski locker at plaza level, it’s got everything I need.
And after a long day of skiing—or an even longer night of keeping up with my niece and nephew—I retreat to my bedroom overlooking the plaza. I watch the village winding down, melting into bed, already smiling about tomorrow’s adventures… or what prank I might pull on the kids.
Oh, and parking? Got my own dedicated spot. The ultimate luxury if you ask me.
And soon, I’ll introduce you to my neighbors—the other collections at Mansfield House, designed for those who need even more room to stretch out. But more on that soon…
